The beginning of a tasty thing.

I am so excited to get to create a blog that will represent my childhood as well as my life with kiddos. My hope for this blog is to pass on my favorite recipes and how-to's with others. My mom is an amazing cook, baker, and homemaker. My siblings and I often call her for help with recipes and other tricks for the home. I even have family on my husband's side as well as friends calling me for her family recipes. This is when I decided I would start a blog with famous recipes from my mother and her family. Growing up I would love to come home, starving, after hours of dance lessons to the delicious smell of garlic simmering. The smell of butter on a griddle will forever remind me of waking up on Saturdays and hoping I was the first of the four kids to wake up so I could get first dibs. Not to mention the Kisgen parties, which are best known for the delicious food and baked goods. I am hoping to include recipes from all the family and share the joy that is received when good food is made and enjoyed with good company.
First on the blog today will be the amazing Skinny Pancakes, don't be fooled, skinny is just their texture. They are a fine blend between German pancakes and crepes. They can also be heard of as Kisgen Pancakes. This is forever my favorite breakfast and is a regular breakfast choice in the Davie home.  It's quick and easy but filled with creative opportunity!

This recipe includes most of the basics.  Milk, eggs, flour, and a touch of sugar.

Skinny Pancake INGREDIENTS:

4 eggs
2 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup plus "a sprinkle" sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup of flour

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat griddle to 375 degrees.
Combine eggs, milk, sugar and vanilla. Mix well.
After combining the above ingredients gradually add in the flour until combined.
Butter griddle.
Pour batter in whatever size you prefer!
Cook until golden brown.
Top it off with some maple syrup or you have the option of topping with fruit and cream cheese. The options are endless!

Next recipe on Taste For Your Heart will be Chile Rellenos!
